「PALPA」 is yarn made by combining two materials with different properties. Its most prominent feature is its ability to be combined with various other materials in accordance with need. In other words, it can fulfill desires for specific functions. Our intention is to continue delivering E11:G16 comfort-enhancing functions.
A typical combination is cotton and polyester. Imagine cotton shaped like macaroni with polyester packed inside. The comfort here is ease of care―the hybrid effect of having soft cotton on the surface and strong polyester on the inside creates a soft thread that is less likely to wrinkle. It also absorbs more water than 100% polyester and dries more quickly than 100% cotton.
Founded in 1889, Unitika has been spinning cotton since the Meiji era. The techniques and technology accumulated over our long history are concentrated at Unitika Textiles Ltd.’s Tokiwa factory in Soja, Okayama Prefecture. We make our cotton amid the rich nature of Okayama, the “sunny country.” Our thread-making craftsmanship is skilled and sophisticated. Having transferred part of our work to P.T. Unitex in Indonesia, we now produce high-end goods in Japan and mass-produce in Indonesia.
